I'm mainly looking for the animated features, not live action....
Non-Charts
- Ogre my ogre - Give yourself Shrek ears with this Shrek hat. You will need to create a ravelry account to access this download. So this isn't Disney... but it was the kind of thing that I was HOPING to find from Disney movies...
- Sleeping Beauty Maleficent Doll - Now this is what I'm talking about! Make a plush toy of this vilian. There is even a tiny raven for her shoulder!
- Charts of Characters - Micky, Minnie, Peter Pan, Shrek, Bambi, Nemo, Bell, Pooh, Simba, Donald and Daisy Duck, Tigger, Piglet, 101 Dalmatians, Alice, Cinderella, Ariel and more. These charts are rather large, between 50x50 and 100x100 stitches. These are very accurate images, so it's a good place to visit.
- Stitch Face Chart - (You will need to create a free Ravelry account to view this pattern)
For Sale Items - So my goal is to always find free patterns... but I thought there was a chance that Disney may want to profit from knitting.
- I Taught Myself To Knit Disney Princesses - Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella knitting needles (both sets size 8), crown shaped needle protectors, a how to book and some accessories. I'm not sure what they'd teach you how to knit...
- I Taught Myself To Knit Disney Mickey Mouse & Friends - Similar to the above kit except things are Mickey related. (Do you remember those pens with the open mickey silhouette on the tops? These knitting needles look like that).
- Micky and Minnie Knit Sweaters (Leisure Arts #3354) - The title says it all.
- There are a couple of books titled "The Disney Book of Knitting" but they are out of print and the descriptions aren't good. If you own one of them, let me know what they're about!
I largely feel like I failed with this search. I can find some lion and deer patterns, and those you could pretend came from Lion King or Bambi... but there is very little out there. This was much harder than I thought, apparently people don't often mention Disney when they make a related pattern. I suppose there could be copyright reasons for why they aren't distributed....
Do you know of any Disney related knitting patterns? Send me an email at chemknitsblog@gmail.com, and I'll add it to this list.
You know that Shrek is not a Disney character, right?
ReplyDeleteI have a copy of the Disney Book of Knitting. Lots of classic charts for sweaters: Big Bad Wolf, Bambi, Lady and the Tramp, Cruella, Daisy, Dumbo, Goofy, Baloo, Pluto, Snow White, the Dwarfs, Tweedles Dee and Dum, Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore, Mickey and Donald suits for toddler.
I know that Shrek isn't Disney (and I said so above). I figured I would include it since I wasn't finding any free patterns, and they parody many of the disney characters.
ReplyDeleteHow is the Disney search going?
ReplyDeleteNot great, there isn't really much out there, likely due to copyright issues.
ReplyDeleteTried to find a tinkerbell??
ReplyDeleteI never had much luck with my search, and the reason is probably that Disney is VERY strict when it comes to protecting their copyrighted characters. I haven't heard about them asking people to take patterns down, but the Olympic committee sent a lot of people very angry letters asking them to remove any pattern with the olympic rings.
